This has become a favourite dessert within my family from the time I have tried the recipe . This has a very few ingredients and can be made in a jiffy, needs only 1 hr setting time and 15 min cooking time.
This halwa is basically made of cornflour not semolina (suji). This is a type of halwa is crumbly and nutty , made of nuts and ghee.
Star Ingredient : Cornflour
Main Ingredients :
- Cornflour 1/2 cup
- water 2 cup
- Sugar 2 cup
- Ghee 4 to 5 tablespoon
- Fried cashew 1/3 of a cup
- Cardamom a pinch
- 2 types of edible food colour ( here I have chosen red and yellow)
Method :
Take Cornflour and water in a mixing bowl and whisk it . Ensure that no lumps are formed. Keep it aside.
Take water preferably in a non-stick pan and add sugar and allow it to boil. Wait till it becomes slightly thick , now add the cornflour mixture, keep stirring on low flame.Stir continously to avoid lumps.
It will start to take a glossy texture as it thickens. Now add the ghee and cardamom powder , mix well, at this point of time add some fried cashew nuts, it will give a nutty flavour to the sweet . Stir continuously once it start to leave the sides of the pan. Switch of the flame.
Now make two halves of the mixture , on one half add red food colour and to the other half add yellow food colour. Transfer the two halves in two separate ghee greased bowl.
Let it set for at least an hour and then decorate it the way you like.
Your double coloured halwa is ready to eat. 🙂
