A doughnut is a type of fried dough confectionery dessert food. This type of dessert or sweet snack is favourite in many countries —
These are typically ring-shaped, with or without a hole, glazed with various types of toppings like sugar , chocolate and maple syrup.
I have made three types of ring doughnuts today — cinnamon ,chocolate and sugar with edible yellow colour glaze.

Star Ingredient :
Flour
Main Ingredients :
- 1 tablespoon teaspoon active dry yeast
- 1 cup of castor sugar
- 1 cup whole warm milk
- (320 to 400 grams) maida or flour
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 2 egg
- 2 tablespoons (30 grams) superfine sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon table salt
- 4 tablespoons (1/2 stick or 2 ounces) unsalted butter, softened at room temperature and cut into cubes
- Vegetable oil for frying
- 2 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
- 2 teaspoon of cocoa powder for chocolate glaze
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- Edible yellow food colour with sugar glaze
Method :
In a medium bowl, combine yeast and warm milk and stir to dissolve the yeast , keep it aside for 15 min or until frothy .
After 15 mins , take another large bowl , mix in the flour, yeast, egg, milk , vanilla, salt and castor sugar and incorporate all the ingredients and make a dough . cover it with a cling film and rest it in a warm place fo 2 to 3 hours or until the dough has doubled in size.
On a floured work surface ,knead the dough again for 15 min and again keep it aside in a buttered bowl for 30 min. With a rolling-pin gently roll out to 1/2 inch thickness then cut with a floured doughnut cutter . Let the doughnut sit for another 15 mins in order to rise again.
Heat oil in a deep fryer and slide the ring doughnut two at a time. Turn the dough as they rise into surface. Fry each doughnut on both sides until brown. Keep them on a wire rack in order to drain off the excess oil.
Preparation of Glaze :
Chocolate Glaze :
Melt butter on a sauce pan over medium heat . Stir in the castor sugar and vanilla until smooth , take from gas. Mix in cocoa powder. Blend it in smoothly . chocolate glaze is ready. Set aside.
Yellow Glaze :
Repeat the same procedure with additional yellow edible food colour instead of cocoa powder.
Or else you can dust in a layer of castor sugar mixed with cinnamon powder.
Dip the doughnuts onto the glaze while it is hot. Your Ring Doughnut is ready to eat. 🙂
