Methi Malai Paneer (Fresh Cottage cheese )

This creamy Paneer dish is typically a vegetarian main dish accompanied by  Naan, Roti or Paratha.  It is prepared with fresh methi leaves which has a somewhat bitter in taste but when incorporated in this dish it get’s an additional flavour.20170504_232049

This is a simple dish get’s prepared in 20 minutes  and it is absolutely delicious. Some green peas may be added to give it an additional texture.

Star  Ingredient :

Fenugreek Leaves or Methi leaves

Main Ingredients :

  • 250 gm Paneer (Cottage cheese )
  • half a bunch of methi leaves, plucked,washed and  chopped.
  • 3/4 cup boiled green peas
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 1/2 cup tomato pulp
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 packet Amul Fresh cream
  • 1/2 cup of smooth paste of (onion, ginger , garlic , 2 green chilli,4 to 5 cashew nuts)
  • 2 to 3 teaspoon of Kasuri Methi powder.

Method :

Wash the methi leave, rub in salt and leave it for 15 min. Squeeze out the water and discard it.

Heat 2 tbsp of oil and add cumin seeds and some garlic . Add the methi leaves and saute for 5 min on a medium flame . Remove the leaves and keep it aside.

Add 2 tbsp of oil in the same kadhai, add in the chopped onions saute them until they turn translucent. Add the ground paste and saute again for  15 min on a medium flame . Stirring occasionally.

Stir in the tomato pulp and saute it for another 10 min.

Add the green peas, sautéed fenugreek, milk, sugar, salt, fresh cream and approx. 2 tbsp of water and cook on a medium flame for 2 minutes, while stirring occasionally. – 20170507_155153

Now add in the Paneer into the gravy.  Cover it , cook for another 5 min.  Add in freshly crushed Kasuri Methi and now your Methi paneer is ready to eat.  — 🙂20170504_110649
