This is a chicken dish with succulent pieces of chicken strips in cashew nut and cream gravy.
It is a popular north indian dish which is also commonly known as murg makhani.
It’s mild in character , hence it is loved by children’s the most. It can be had with naan, paratha or rumali roti of your choice.

- 500 gm of boneless chicken strips
- 100 gm of curd
- one cup of onion,ginger and garlic paste
- 1 cup of tomato puree
- 1 cup of fried cashew nut and almond paste
- 1 pack of Amul fresh cream
- Salt to taste
- 2 tsp of turmeric powder
- 1 tsp of kasuri Methi
- 2 tsp of garam masala powder
- 4 tsp of red chilli powder
- Vegetable oil for cooking
- 100 gm of butter
Marinate the chicken with some ginger , garlic paste , salt and red chilli powder for at least 1 hour.
Meanwhile make a paste of cashew and almond.
Put some vegetable oil on a thick bottomed pan, then add the onion , ginger and garlic paste. Saute it for a while , add in the marinated chicken pieces , saute it for 15 minutes, then mix in the tomato puree, fry for another 10 minutes. Add in salt, turmeric, red chilli powder and then lastly the cashew and almond paste . After adding this add the butter and saute it on a medium heat, add in the fresh cream ( keep aside some portion for garnishing). Saute it till oil separates and the chicken is cooked , add some warm water if needed, but note it should be a thick gravy.
Adjust the seasoning , for additional flavour add garam masala and kasuri methi and voila your hot butter chicken is ready to eat — 🙂
