Cherry Clafoutis

Made a simple and wonderful french dessert  named Clafoutis — with cherries —-

It is a baked french dessert made of fruit —  traditionally of black cherries ( which can be substituted with plum, fig , apricot or berries)  arranged on a buttered dish , covered with a pancake like  batter.

It can be also had as a breakfast item —- if you have a sweet tooth —-

Main Ingredients :

  • 2 cups of full fat milk
  • 2 cups of powdered sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of vanilla
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup of flour  or as much required
  • 3 cups of red cherries , pitted
  • Some powdered sugar for garnishing

Method:

Pre heat the oven to 180 degree centigrade.

Combine the milk , egg, sugar, flour , salt , vanilla together with a whisk , and make into a  pancake batter consistency —

Lightly butter a baking dish and spread some powdered sugar on top of it .

Arrange the pitted cherries and then pour in the prepared mixture .

Bake this for  40 to 45 minutes  or until a knife inserted onto the middle comes out clean.

Sprinkle powdered sugar and serve warm.

Happy Cooking —  🙂
