Beat the Monday blues with these homemade hot Samosas —
A crunchy snack item–and still so easy to prepare —-
For Filling :
- 4 boiled potatoes ( small cubes)
- 4 to 5 boiled cauliflower florets
- 1/2 cup boiled green peas
- 2 tsp roasted peanuts
- 1/2 tsp of cumin seeds
- 1/2 inch grated ginger
- tsp of turmeric powder
- tsp of red chilli powder
- 3 tsp of roasted dry masala powder ( cumin seeds, coriander seeds, 1 tejpatta (bay leaf , 2 whole red chillies )
- Salt to taste
- 2 tsp of vegetable oil
- 500 gm of all-purpose flour
- 2 tbsp of ghee
- 1tsp of sugar
- 1 tsp of salt
- Enough vegetable oil for frying
Method for the preparation of the Dough:
Mix in the ghee , salt and sugar with all-purpose flour till the mixture becomes a little flaky , then add in water to make a medium to hard dough and cover it with a kitchen towel and keep it aside.
Method for the preparation of the filling:
Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan and add in the cumin seeds , let it splutter , throw in some roasted peanuts and green chillies and ginger , saute it , add in the cauliflower florets , and the boiled potatoes and green peas. After that add all the dry masala and turn the heat off —
Divide the fough into 12 medium or more balls and make medium sized puris out of it.
Cut the roll out puris into halves. Then fold them into small cones with the help of fingers and your palm , fill 3/4 th of it with the potato stuffing and seal the ends with some water , and give it shape of a triangle .
Heat enough oil in a wok , and then deep fry all the samosas in 3 to 4 bathches .
Serve them hot with tomato ketchup —
