This is not a full fledged main course dish , but can be had as a complimentary side dish —

But if you ask me I can finish my portion of steamed rice with this dish alone — 🤑🤑

If you have some leftover dessicated coconut — you are done —

You can also make this and keep it in freezer and combine it with other vegetables — this will definitely give a twist to your otherwise boring vegetable —

Main Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of dessicated coconut
  • Handful of green peas
  • 4 tsp of mustard paste
  • 4 tsp of khus khus paste
  • 2 slit green chilli
  • 1/2 tomato (sliced)
  • 1/2 tsp of mustard seeds
  • Salt and sugar to taste
  • Coriander leaves to garnish
  • 5 tsp mustard oil

Method :

Heat mustard oil in a non-stick pan — bring it to a smoking point —

Temper the oil with mustard seeds.

Add in the dessicated coconut and green peas ,turn the flame to low heat — fry it for 2 minutes. At this stage add in the tomato slices —

Add in the other pastes ( mustard and khus khus paste one by one ) saute it for further 5 to 6 minutes —

Now add the green chilli, salt and sugar — continuously stir the mixture — the mixture should be dry — no water is needed

Put off the flame when raw smell disappears– — Transfer it to a serving bowl .

Serve it with steamed rice 😊
