Chicken Bharta

This is the most delectable , mildly spiced, authentic Chicken Bharta recipe that I have stumbled upon and thought of making it for my Friday night dinner option 😊

Typically a North Indian dish — prepared with boneless chicken and a no fuss recipe — It won my heart and hope it will yours too– 😊

Main Ingredients

  • 500 gms of boneless chicken breast
  • 5 tsp of onion , ginger and garlic paste
  • 3 tsp of cashew and almond paste
  • 2 tsp of whole garam Masala
  • 1 medium sized pureed tomato
  • 2 tsp of red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1/2 tsp of kewra water
  • 4 tbsp of vegetable oil

Method :

Cut the chicken into medium sized pieces

Marinate the pieces with , ginger garlic paste, salt and lemon juice for roughly 1 hour—

Boil the chicken pieces in sufficient water with whole garam masala onto it — keep the gas on medium heat —

Strain and keep the chicken stock for later use and the chicken pieces on a separate bowl — Shred the chicken pieces by hand — keep it aside —

Heat the remaining oil on a non-stick pan — add in the onion, ginger , garlic paste —saute it for 10 minutes —

Then add in the cashew and almond paste together with tomato puree — mix it well and saute all of them on mdium flame , add in salt and red chilli powder — saute till oil oozes out from the masalas —

Now add in the shredded chicken pieces — fry for further 5 minutes — lastly add in the chicken stock —

Cook until all the water has absorbed — sprinkle some garam masala and add some kewra water and lemon juice for additional flavour–

Serve it hot with naan , roti or parathas —–
